The Blue Cave
About 6 nautical miles from Herceg Novi, between Zlatna Luka Bay and Cape Mokra Gora, on the Lustica Peninsula, is perhaps the most beautiful natural phenomenon on the Montenegrin coast, and some classify it as a natural jewel of the Mediterranean, the Blue Cave.
The cave has two openings, smaller, on the south side and larger, 3 meters high and 15 meters wide, located on the southwest side. Boats can enter the cave through a larger opening, which allows tourists to attend indescribable games of light and water in the interior and speedboats can enter on both sides. This natural cave, with a dome of 9 meters above sea level, is a unique stage of natural wonders, which will leave everyone who visits the Blue Cave breathless.
If you are coming to Montenegro on a vacation and are deciding to get to know its coast, then you must see the most beautiful attraction, which is a little out of sight. The most breathtaking cave on the Montenegrin coast! This was the pinnacle of our tour. The color of this cave cannot be described with words.
– Sheldon Waters, Miami USA.
When the day is clear and sunny, through the openings of the cave, sunlight enters its interior, and there it refracts on the surface of the water in indescribable shades of blue, making the water and cave walls the color after which the cave is named.
You will hardly be able to see such shades of blue anywhere in the world, and clean and warm water simply entices you to dive into and become one with the indescribable ambience of this natural cave. The resonance of this cave turns every sound inside it into an echo, which is another phenomenon characteristic of this hidden wonder of nature, and one of the most beautiful places on our coast. Whoever swims in the Blue Cave once, will forever carry a part of that indescribable blue, as one of the most memorable memories in his life and you will always want to come back for another dive.
